The Q User Guide for the film is now available to the public, although the app remains in private beta.

The user guide for film Q is now available to the public, though the app remains in private beta. Film Q is an innovative application that allows users to invert film negatives on the Analog.Cafe website without requiring software installation. It links to your Dropbox account and processes files in the cloud.

This app offers numerous advantages compared to traditional film inversion software, including hands-free batch processing, no resource consumption, and a transparent and consistent inversion algorithm.

My intention with this app is to clarify precisely what the inversion software accomplishes, eliminating any uncertainties about your exposure, film development quality, or the effects of your software on the image.

The app is still under active development and can only be tested upon request. Nonetheless, you can preview its features through the help documentation that is now live: analog.cafe/app/film-q/help.

If you're interested in supporting the ongoing development of this project, please consider subscribing: analog.cafe/gold/get. For the app announcement and an estimated release timeline, visit analog.cafe/r/a-new-kind-o…

If you would like to try the app or have any questions or feedback, please feel free to reach out. I aim to make this new product as beneficial as possible for those who scan film at home.

Review of VueScan Professional

VueScan is an application compatible with more than 7,400 scanners, including many that were produced more than two decades ago. After moving away from SilverFast, which I found to be cumbersome, costly, and frustrating, I have been using VueScan for over five years. In this review, I will discuss the interface, features, limitations, my workflow, and the reasons I believe VueScan is essential for any photographer who scans film at home.
