Last month, Daren and I recorded a pilot episode discussing the new Polaroid Flip camera. You can listen to it on Spotify (and I’m working on publishing it on more platforms). This marks my first podcast episode as a host, and I’d love to hear your feedback! A Beginner’s Guide to Film Photography. Film photography isn’t overly complicated; anyone can begin with a point-and-shoot camera and a local lab. However, gaining a bit more knowledge can unlock a range of creative possibilities. I’ve outlined essential concepts along with some advanced techniques in straightforward yet comprehensive terms across 73 pages or 10,000 words, accompanied by numerous illustrations. The guide also includes a printable PDF version (compatible with A4 and Letter paper sizes) for convenient offline reading. An audiobook version is forthcoming (possibly in July). I’m exploring options to package everything for easy listening and chapter skipping; if you have suggestions, I’m eager to hear them. Next month on Analog.Cafe. I’m currently preparing a write-up and editing images for an extensive experiment that involved four people, numerous candles, and a hairdryer to complete. The findings from this experiment reshaped my understanding of what it takes to create certain “rebranded” film stocks.
