Light Lens Lab has set ambitious objectives for 2025 and has shared additional samples of their newly developed black-and-white film.
“This emulsion encapsulates the essence of our film project: to produce film materials free from historical constraints, third-party patent complications, or reliance on manufacturers. It is constructed from the ground up — driven by creativity and user input. Our prototype assembly line is scheduled to commence operations in June 2025, with V3 emulsion production to follow shortly after.” — @lightlenslab.com/blogs/upc…
Located in Shangrao, China, Light Lens Lab is on the verge of releasing a newly formulated black-and-white film that, according to their blog, will feature “the widest color sensitivity range among civilian black-and-white films, achieving a span of approximately 380-700nm.”
The new film will be offered in 135, 120, and sheet formats. Additionally, LLL is developing peel-apart film, an ISO 400 traditional grain film (the emulsion approaching production is an ISO 125 T-Grain; for more on T-Grain, visit analog.cafe/r/ilford-delta…), motion picture formats, including 70mm, and is exploring color slide films, including the potential revival of the K-14 process (also known as the Kodachrome process).

I experienced depression. After more than two years of therapy, I can joyfully say I no longer do. First and foremost, I want to emphasize that support is accessible everywhere; no matter how bleak your surroundings may seem, you are never alone! Photography has always been a source of inspiration for me. This is a story of how photography, particularly film photography, guided me on my journey.
Last month, the company revealed that they had finished developing their hand-crankable DIY instant film development units featuring an Instax Wide back. Today, they are focused on modifying the same technology for medium format film cameras. #editorial.
