Lomography introduces LomoChrome Classicolor, its inaugural ISO 200 color-negative film.

#editorial🔥 All Comments☝️ SearchDmitri Oct 2, ‘25Lomography has introduced LomoChrome Classicolor, its first¹ ISO 200 color-negative film. This film is quite different from Kodacolor — more on that shortly. It is available for pre-order now (estimated shipping in November 2025) priced at $11.90 for 35mm/36exp, featuring DX codes². Formats in 120 and 110 are anticipated to follow!

Lomography characterizes their LomoChrome Classicolor 200 film as offering “true to life colors with the classic appeal of analogue photography” and describes it as “a standard color negative film with remarkable versatility across different environments and lighting conditions” — thanks to the limited-edition 2025 Formula.

From what I gather, the term “2025 Formula” does not imply that this film will be discontinued next year (it wouldn't make sense given the current enthusiasm surrounding new films). However, there may be slight adjustments with future batches. Previous examples of such modifications include the Lomochrome Color’92 Sun Kissed (analog.cafe/comments/l8yu) and the current iteration of Lomochrome Metropolis, which varies from its initial version.

The sample scans I received of LomoChrome Classicolor 200 from Lomography (see below) exhibit vibrant colors and contrast, with a noticeable leaning towards reds and oranges in the shadow areas.

¹ — After researching through the Internet Archive back to 2012, the nearest ISO 200 color-negative film associated with the Lomography brand is the XR films rated ISO 50-200. If you are aware of another, please let me know; I’d be happy to amend this post!

² — DX-coded film canisters are compatible with all point-and-shoot cameras, including those that don’t allow you to adjust your film’s ISO. Not all Lomography films have this feature, which makes LomoChrome Classicolor 200 one of the brand’s most adaptable films.

#editorial🔥Dmitri Oct 2, ‘25The slight but distinct lean towards reds in the shadows, along with the characteristic grain, reminds me of another film stock I recently reviewed: ORWO NC200, which is also marketed as KONO Color 200 and OptiColour 200 — analog.cafe/r/kono-color-2….

Of course, this doesn’t mean they are the same film, and it may not be crucial, as both options appear to be excellent medium-speed color film choices for a wide range of applications.

Dmitri Oct 2, ‘25If finer grain is a priority, the 120 version of LomoChrome Classicolor 200 will be available soon.

Additionally, Optik Oldschool OptiColour 200 is also offered in medium format — if you can locate it (as it is sold out at most stores I found).
