Great news: Kodak film developers have made a comeback!
I've received emails from Dupli Ltd and CineStill announcing the revival of the Kodak Professional Photo Chemicals series, which had been stalled for about a year following issues with its previous manufacturer, Sino Promise. Kodak Flexicolor, now known as Kodak Colour Negative Chemistry, is back in Europe.
Dupli is the official distributor of Kodak's film development chemistry, which has been slowly re-entering the market after a break caused by supply challenges and other issues. Last year, the distribution in the US was resumed by Dupli in partnership with CineStill. Starting today, both the European Dupli store and local suppliers will begin offering Kodak’s colour negative development chemistry, which has been rebranded from Flexicolor to Kodak Colour Negative Chemistry.
Dupli characterizes Kodak Colour Negative Chemistry as “trusted… utilized by generations of photographers to create vibrant, true-to-life colour prints. Designed for both minilab and professional use, Kodak Colour Negative Chemistry delivers the consistency, reliability, and image quality that analog photographers desire.”
The website further notes: “This new kit serves as an excellent substitute for the now discontinued Tetenal Colortec C-41 Kit. Ideal for quick and easy home development of your colour films.”
The instruction sheet accompanying the developer specifies a development time of 3:15 (at a temperature range of 37-39℃) and 6:30 for both bleach and fixer. You can download it here: dupli.co.uk/product/attach… or access all product listings on the Dupli website: dupli.co.uk/dupli-shop/ana…
The chemicals are available in various configurations, including large 40-litre replenisher packs intended for lab use.
