New features for Film Log and updates for the web app. Preparing to develop film at home has become quicker with the ability to track chemical usage and expiration through Chem Log. Analog.Cafe v3.30.84 introduces a useful Dilution Calculator button in the Film Log app (analog.cafe/app/film-log) to assist in determining accurate chemical ratios, and it prominently displays stats and reuse calculators for all selected chemicals when needed. While it's still important to test your chemicals (you can find guidance here: analog.cafe/r/how-to-test-…), Chem Log (a plugin for the Film Log app) aids in preventing issues by providing a quick reference for mix dates. If a bottle is quite old, you'll know to refrain from using it. Additionally, Chem Log assists in prolonging the lifespan of your C-41 chemicals by showing adjusted development times based on the amount of developer and the number of rolls processed. I've utilized this app to extend my 1L (quart) Arista kit's lifespan to 28 rolls — which is 20 more than the suggested limit — saving me about $1 per roll, all without notable problems in color or grain. Article & samples: analog.cafe/r/arista-c-41-…. Other app updates include: #film Q, a web app for inverting film negatives in the cloud, has received a minor bug fix. Previously, enabling the “Autostart” setting would inadvertently disable the “Fix Base Fog” mode. This issue has now been resolved. New #video🍿 and podcast comment tags have also been redesigned for easier access to analogue photography content. I've revamped the comment display and increased the maximum character limit per comment to 4,000. Please feel free to respond to this comment or reach out if you have any feedback or encounter issues with the Analog.Cafe website! #editorial🔥 #website
An inadequate light source can lead to problems when digitizing film with a digital camera. The colors might look dull or display a color cast that is difficult to correct fully. Optimal results are achieved with sources that utilize a carefully adjusted mix of color LEDs to produce light that closely resembles natural, full-spectrum lighting. #editorial.
Although I haven't used either, the LomoApparat cameras received considerable praise at their launch and continue to do so years later, thanks to their ultra-wide 21mm lens, attractive design, and a wide range of experimental filters. #editorial.
