It seems that I might be going to a Leica store for the first time this summer!

A new black-and-white film from a familiar company is set to launch soon. This is a spoiler alert, so proceed with caution and manage your expectations. Leica Rumors released a press announcement regarding the Leica Monopan 50. You can find the announcement here: http… It seems I might be visiting a Leica store for the first time this summer! The new black-and-white ISO 50 Leica MONOPAN will be available starting August 21st. Once released, it should retail for £10/€12/$10/$14 CAD per roll. Many sources, including sites like DPReview, agree with you, @ellabomga: this might be a white-labeled Adox HR-50. Both Leica’s and Adox films are produced in Germany, share the ISO 50 rating, and are super panchromatic (allowing shooting with an infrared filter for special effects). Leica’s website features examples that showcase luminous foliage: leica-camera.com/en-int/ph…. For information on lens filters and black-and-white film, visit: analog.cafe/r/a-beginners-…. Despite being pricier than the expected HR-50, Leica’s new film might be more readily available compared to Adox’s offering, which B&H lists as discontinued (I doubt any physical stores in Canada carry it). If it is indeed the same film, Adox might see a boost in sales; in fact, the HR-50 is likely garnering more interest now than it has in a while. Naturally, Leica’s film will prominently display the LEICA branding on the borders, which could hold significance. Additionally, this film would mark **Leica’s first 35mm film product**, which I find particularly intriguing since the company waited a century to produce 35mm film despite being a pioneer of the 135 film format for the industry! #editorial🔥
