A Threads/Instagram account is attempting to present AI-generated content as photographs taken on film. I believe the methods and tools used to produce images are significant. This is why we appreciate film photography, admire the skill and timing involved, and reject the influx of more AI-generated content.
Firstly, there’s an update regarding @aymenfilmm, an account that publishes AI-generated images while labeling them as film. They have turned off comments and quotes on their profile.
I'm not sure who operates @aymenfilmm, but it's understandable considering many comments challenge them for sharing AI images and tagging them as film. Some of the feedback is harsh, though their prior actions indicate they prefer not to disclose how their images were made. Nevertheless, this decision to disable community interaction hasn't deterred @aymenfilmm from posting; in fact, their activity has increased.
On another note, I noticed a post in my Threads feed from @scanmyphotos using an AI-generated image to advertise their film scanning services. The camera depicted lacks a take-up spool chamber, the film canister features an unusual font without branding, and the entire scene seems to echo the One Hour Photo film by Mark Romanek, starring Robin Williams.
A closer examination of @scanmyphotos reveals even more AI-generated promotional content.
