Polaroid Flip is an innovative film camera that employs traditional technology to capture higher quality images.

Polaroid Flip is a modern film camera that combines classic technology for improved photography. Those who grew up in the '90s might recall the iconic boxy Polaroid cameras, such as the Polaroid Sun 660. I lived in Moscow during that time, and we had one of those cameras as well. The Polaroid Flip seems to be a contemporary revival of the 600-series models.

The Flip utilizes sonar and a 4-lens step focus similar to the Sun 660. In contrast, Polaroid's previous model, the Polaroid Now, lacks this feature (subsequent models have 2-step autofocus). I find Polaroid's decision to use sonar for autofocus intriguing, especially since other technologies like Lidar are more prevalent today. However, the Flip introduces several new features: film packs with a rechargeable battery, under/overexposure alerts, a presumably stronger flash, and Bluetooth connectivity paired with an app for manual settings, double exposures, and more.

According to the release: “The Polaroid Flip will retail for €219 / $199.99 / £199.99 / CNY 1699, with early access for members starting on April 15. It will be available on polaroid.com starting April 29 and at retail locations beginning May 13.”
