Lomography USA's Instagram account was compromised. Film Ferrania's Facebook page has been controlled by suspected scammers for nearly two years. The Internet can be harsh, even for well-established brands. Although I haven't experienced account theft myself 🤞, it seems that recovering one can be challenging. In Lomography's situation, they managed to regain full access, but all their content and followers disappeared, leading the company to ask the community to re-follow them as they work on rebuilding their presence on the platform. See attached. Film Ferrania's Facebook page still retains all its original posts and comments. The last post from Ferrania was on April 2, 2023, and you can find comments about film photography under it. However, the photos and the caption are in Vietnamese, and the profile name has changed to Bảo Lasvegas. Bảo's recent posts are vague and awkward, promoting a service that resembles a pyramid scheme. From what I've gathered, these hacks are not personal attacks but rather automated programs aimed at seizing popular, poorly protected accounts to sell them to those looking to spam or create a facade of legitimacy. If you're concerned about your account's security, I recommend using a password manager (1Password is a good option) and enabling two-factor authentication. You can also enhance your security with an authenticator app like Google Authenticator. Stay safe out there, everyone! #editorial🔥
